My adventures in Rome. August 2006 sees me travelling in Europe for the first time. My desire to speak Italian (which will help my upcoming opera career) is taking me across the sea to learn from the natives. Follow me as I travel and wish me luck, or buona fortuna!

Winding Down.....er, up?

One week left.

Work is winding down. Did I mention I quit my job? Sure...I'm, simultaneously, launching an opera career, starting a consulting business, quitting my job and going to Italy.

I think I mentioned that, so onto the more interesting stuff.

I just finished my last week of training at my job. I've been slowly leaving work a little earlier each day (which landed me right in the middle of a thunderstorm where it was raining sideways today). I've been passing off projects, giving documentation to other people, and I've even moved my desk into a temporary spot so my replacement could have my old place.

The quotient of leaving work early to practicing more has been directly correlated. I've strapped on the ole singing gear again and started into a few arias and scores. It's been refreshing and invigorating. The voice is bigger though I tend to sputter to a stop 20 minutes into practicing. Hence the practicing.

OK... Now I'm even boring myself. Here's some tidbits of fun. Here are a few of the things I bought recently for my trip: Power adapter, travel alarm clock, plane neck pillow and suitcase.

Now I only have to figure out what to wear in Italy. It'll be August and probably very little air conditioning will be available. Should I take lots of nicer pants and shirts or do the native Italians recognize the heat and dress in shorts and t's?!?
